Anthony C. Roth Jr. "Tony"

Listen to Obituary

With sorrow, we announce that Anthony Charles Roth Jr. (Tony), peacefully passed away on January 10, 2026. Born on July 16, 1939, to Anthony and Theresa {nee Skraba} Roth, Tony grew up in Milwaukee with his parents and his brother, James (Jim). He attended St. John de Nepomuc Elementary School and graduated from Pius IX High School in 1957. He earned an associate degree in Electronics and Communication from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and proudly served in the Air Force Reserves with the 440th Airlift Wing from 1962 to 1968, before beginning a long career at IBM, where he worked until his retirement in 2003.

In 1965, Tony married Suzanne Hahn, and together they moved to Cedarburg to raise their three children.

Tony’s lifelong fascination with cars began with his first job at a service station not far from the Milwaukee Mile Speedway. He bought his first (of many) cars at age 16. That passion grew into a lifelong interest in racing. When he retired, Tony would pack up his camper and head down to the Daytona International Speedway to spend winters enjoying the races in person.

In retirement, Tony was a proud monthly blood donor, and a dedicated volunteer for over 20 years at Wisconsin’s annual EAA AirVenture, River Edge Nature Center in Newburg, WI, and Victory Junction Camp in North Carolina. He shared his enthusiasm with everyone he met. He enjoyed working on cars, tending to his yard, riding his Harley, fishing, spending time with family in St. Germain, and monthly breakfasts with his former IBM colleagues. Tony was also a devoted member of St. Francis Borgia Church, in Cedarburg, for 53 years.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim, and Suzanne. He is survived by his children: Jennifer (Kevin) Prom, Michael (Anne) Roth, and David (Leah) Roth; his grandchildren, Aly (Timothy) Oestreich, Jacob (Victoria) Prom, Emily Prom, Max, Nora, Malcolm, and Tatum Roth; and great‑grandchildren, Luke and Jane Oestreich, other relatives and many dear friends.

A memorial service for Tony will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Peter Wollner American Legion Post (W57 N481 Hilbert Ave.), Cedarburg. The Memorial Service will start promptly at 11:00 AM with a celebration of life and lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, in care of Plopper Funeral Home, for a memorial bench and tree planting at Covered Bridge Park.

The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Village Pointe Commons Memory Care and the staff of Legacy Hospice.
