Diane L. Hostetter

March 30, 1946 - July 1, 2026 

The world has lost a shining light with the passing of Diane L. Hostetter, a beloved matriarch, cherished family member and devoted friend. Diane's journey came to a serene close on July 1, 2026, at the age of 80. Preceded in death by the love of her life, Donald, who she missed dearly. She is survived by her loving daughters, Lori (Jim) Stauske, Kari (Steve) Holland, Kristi (Tim) Hilgart, and grandchildren; Ryan (Crystal) Stauske, Kevin (Jenni) Stauske, Kayla (Derrick) Rotta, Jenna Holland, Sarah (Jimmy) Kubanek, Kyle (Reese) Holland, Donnie Hilgart, Joey Hilgart, and Katie Hilgart, and great grandchildren; Adelyn Stauske, Nolyn Stauske, and Gracelynn Holland who all adored her.

Diane had a strong faith and trusted in God’s love and promise to carry her through both the good and the bad times. Her faith and spirit will continue to inspire all who felt her love and laughter. Her legacy of love, selflessness and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Diane’s true passion was her family. Donald and Diane were married on March 30, 1968 – a date made doubly special as it was also Diane’s birthday. Through 38 years of marriage, they raised a beautiful family. She shared in every moment of joy and sorrow, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. She exemplified love with her kind heart, smile, phone calls, FaceTime sessions, going out to eat, Starbucks or ice-cream runs. She would drop anything to help family or friends support their passions. She was the one every family member would call to tell a story, listen or give advice. Diane always knew the latest family scoop… and everyone’s location.

Diane loved to travel and had many memorable vacations with Don and her family. She made yearly trips up north with her grandchildren and was always the life of the party that brought the best snacks!

She loved sports and playing cards with her grandchildren - especially her granddaughter Katie. While she was a loyal fan of the Brewers, Bucks and Packers, she loved nothing more than watching her grandchildren compete, and she supported them with a heart full of pride.

Diane was a vibrant person who loved life. She had a special bond with her dog Maggie, they cherished visits to Starbucks with pup cups and ‘nonfat, no water, extra hot chia tea lattes’. She had a strong sweet tooth and loved her Tootsie Rolls, licorice, and ice cream with good company.

Diane embraced life with a vivacious spirit, always cheerful and eager to share a joke or a comforting word with those around her. Her warmth extended to all, as she was never one to judge and had an extraordinary gift to gab as well as listening deeply. She could make friends with anybody wherever she was. She loved to laugh with her dear friend Mary Schultz and socializing with her “Card Group” and the “Y -Chicks”. Those who knew her admired her thoughtfulness, her knack for brightening any gathering, and her open-door policy, welcoming friends and family alike to share in laughter and love. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing her considered her a “Best Friend”, often affectionately referring to her simply as "Grandma” or “Lady Di."

Funeral services for Diane will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026, 6:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church (701 Washington St.), Grafton. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate her beautiful life, share cherished memories, and honor the remarkable woman she was. The visitation will take place, on Wednesday, at the church, from 4:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages thoughtful donations to St. Paul Lutheran School in Grafton, or local charities that promote familial bonds and community support, embodying the spirit of giving that Diane exemplified in her life.

Diane L. Hostetter was a true blessing to all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. May her soul rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
