It is with a mixture of sadness and celebration that we announce the passing of Donald J. Walsh, affectionately known as "Gumby" to his friends, who left us peacefully on March 3, 2026, due to a short battle with cancer, at the age of 69. Born in Port Washington, WI, and a proud graduate of Grafton High School with the class of 1974, Don lived a life rich with cherished memories, love, and camaraderie.
Don dedicated his professional life as a groundskeeper at West Bend Country Club and Hartford Golf Club, where his passion for maintaining beautiful landscapes and ensuring perfect playing conditions was evident to all who visited. His commitment to his work, was also evident during his time at the Est Company, in Grafton, as well as Enterprise Rental. He had a dedication to his personal interests, notably his love for motorcycles. As a valued rider with the Bandits motorcycle group, Don cherished the open road and the friendships forged along the way.
While he never married, Don experienced a profound reunion with his high school friend, Renee, igniting a special bond that brought him joy in his later years. He leaves behind his true love, Renee Telindert, his sisters, Cindy (Richard) Marks and Diane Walsh, and brother, David Walsh. Don is further survived by his niece, Sarah (Matthew) Berger, nephew, Ian (Elizabeth) Marks, three great nieces, one great-nephew, other relatives and many friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Luella (nee Pfrang) Walsh.
As we reflect on Donald's life, we celebrate a man who epitomized kindness, loyalty, and love for adventure. Don's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
Funeral services will be held in his honor, allowing family and friends to come together to share stories and reminisce about the impact he made in their lives. The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Rose Harms American Legion Post (1540 13th Ave.), Grafton. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, at the legion post, from 4:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Grafton Police Department K-9 Unit or the American Cancer Society.
His legacy of joy and adventure will always be remembered.
