But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. Psalm 52:8
On September 18, 2025, Dorothy Natzke went to her eternal home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ, as she said “goodbye” to her earthly family. She was born on March 25, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to Emilie Schultz and Edward Carl Neumann, Sr. She leaves behind Royal, her husband of 48 years, the three children of her first marriage, Elizabeth Ann Cain Golchert, David Robert Cain (Debra) and Jonathan Paul Cain (Kara), and Royal’s children, Mary (Mark) Steinbrenner, Ann (Brad) Brucker, John (Amy) Natzke, and Peter Natzke. She is further survived by 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Dorothy attended and graduated from Lutheran elementary and high schools in Chicago. She went on to graduate from Augustana Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, earning her RN status. On November 26, 1958, she married Rev. Wilbur Cain and together they served churches in Forth Worth, Texas; Lewistown, Montana; and Ebenezer Lutheran Church, in Milwaukee. When she became a single parent, she returned to her profession in nursing and added a certification in parish nursing, graduating from the program at Concordia University in Milwaukee, until retirement in January 1999. In their retirement she and royal did extensive genealogical research, traveling to Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Pomerania, and Canada, and wrote their family histories. Since 2004, they lived at Cedar Community in West Bend, Wisconsin. Dorothy’s greatest joys came from her husband, children, and grand and great grandchildren as they grew and matured into a blended family. Leading a women’s Bible study at River of Life Lutheran Church, in Saukville, Wisconsin, also brought great joy and fulfillment.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at First Immanuel Lutheran Church (W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd.), in Cedarburg, at 6:00 PM, with visitation preceding the service from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. The committal will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Wayside, Wisconsin, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 27th.
