Dorothy “Dottie” Schimpf (nee Wolf) was called to heaven on September 10, 2026, and is in the loving arms of Jesus in heaven. Dottie was a cherished mother, beloved “Oma” and great grandmother, a sincere friend of many, and a shining light within this world.
Born on June 16, 1942, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Dottie leaves a legacy of service to others that continues to reverberate in the communities she served. Dottie became a nurse after graduating from Homestead Hospital Nursing School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1963. She worked in hospitals in Pittsburgh, PA, Toledo, OH, and Salt Lake City, UT, as well as local nursing homes, including Milwaukee Bradford Terrace and New Castle Place in Mequon. Dottie completed the Parish Nursing program at Marquette University in 1990 and served as the Parish Nurse at North Shore Congregational Church in Fox Point where she led the Stephen Ministry Program and worked side by side with the “Love of her Life” Reverend Karl D. Schimpf. Dorothy was also a proud and loving 50+ year member of P.E.O., served a term as president, held numerous leadership roles, planned state conventions, and loved her sisters with all of her heart and soul.
Dottie was a voracious cook, baker, and event coordinator who made each weekend a major undertaking with family, friends, neighbors, or members of the congregation. There was never a shortage of food or love at “Oma’s”. She was a true sports fan, cheering with great vigor for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, and Green Bay Packers. Her true joy of sports was displayed at grandchildren’s football, soccer, softball, hockey, track, and tennis events.
Thank you to Lily Hospice services and the angels that work at Village Pointe Commons Blue Grotto Memory Care Community. Thank you to Village Pointe Commons in Grafton for providing her with a community in which she continued to find purpose, direction, care, and love these past 9 years!
Dottie is survived by sons Chris, Mark (Shannon), and David (Becki); grandchildren Mark Jr., Lindsey, Noah, Nathan (Courtney), Caitlin, Sarah, Matthias, and Karl Christopher; great grandchild Harper. Dottie was preceded in death by parents Paul and Olive Wolf, brother Lynn Wolf, and husband Karl D. Schimpf.
