Listen to Obituary

Elaine [Dorothy Verda] was born in the small town of Lewiston MN to Harry and Lydia (Ratsch) Treder. After graduating from Lewiston High School, she began working at the University of MN where she met her husband, Donald Bergmann. In the early days of their marriage, they lived in Craig CO, Salt Lake City UT, Jackson MS, Bismarck ND and Milwaukee before settling in Cedarburg. Elaine worked at Alston's, US Bank as well as VIP. She volunteered her time counting money at First Immanuel every Monday. (Always one of the highlights of her week). In her free time, she enjoyed traveling within the US as well as to 4 other continents, playing cards and games with family and friends and watching Brewers games. She always took great pride in her yard, tending to the plants and flowers.

She is survived by her son Blaine (Kathy Slobig), 8 grandchildren, Becky Lauters of Saukville, Greg (Chrissy) Zahn of Elmhurst IL, Kelly Zahn (Paul Conant) of Elk Grove IL, Mike (Betsy) Bergmann, Megan (Mike) Claeys and Joe (Allison) Bergmann of Grafton, Jake (Marcia) of Milwaukee and Willie Nygaard of Adell; 13 great grandchildren, Sienna, Max, Lillie (Adam Macro), Andrew, Noah, Riley, Alex, Landon, Robbie, Jacoby, Jaxson, Rory, Sam and one great-great grandchild Teddy, who she was able to meet during her brief illness. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Mel (Kitty) and Gene (Marilyn) Treder of Rochester MN, 3 sisters, Ila Rothwell and Dene Narveson of Rochester MN and Clarine (Lyman) Lewis of Lewiston MN, son in law, Paul Nygaard, many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don, 3 daughters Donell Lauters, Peggy Zahn and Mary Nygaard, brothers Clarence and Carley (Betty) Treder, 3 sisters Ione (Ed) Kessler, Deloris (Carl) Brackett and Glennis (Eugene) Beach, and 2 brothers-in-law Phil Rothwell and Lowell Narveson.
