It is with profound sadness and also deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Gerald W. Bartelt, affectionately known as Jerry, who departed this world peacefully at his home in Mequon, Wisconsin, on March 7, 2026. Born on October 31, 1948, in Port Washington, Wisconsin, Jerry was a cherished son, devoted brother, and beloved friend to many.

Jerry's early education began at Bieglow Elementary School and continued at First Immanuel Lutheran Grade School, culminating in his graduation from Homestead High School. Following his schooling, he proudly served in the National Guard as a reserve member, embodying the spirit of dedication and service.

A skilled welder, Jerry worked diligently for over 30 years at Milwaukee Metal, where he was admired for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Although he never married, he formed a deep bond with his sister, Carol Taylor, and his kindness and generosity touched the lives of those around him. A member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jerry was known for his engaging spirit and unwavering support for numerous causes. He was particularly devoted to the Humane Society, Disabled Veterans, and local agencies, contributing significantly to their missions and enriching the lives of countless individuals and animals.

Jerry's passions extended to the automotive world, where he delighted in attending automotive flea markets and had an enduring love for cars and pedal cars. Additionally, his love for history was reflected through his collection of historical items, which he generously shared with others, ensuring the stories of the past remained alive. A dedicated member of a bowling league, Jerry enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships fostered through this beloved pastime.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Meta Bartelt, and is survived by his sister, Carol (Al) Taylor, who will carry his memory with love and pride. Further survived by his lifelong friends, Dale Klumb and Bob Hollnagel, as well as his godson, Adam Klumb.

In celebrating Jerry's remarkable life, a memorial service will be held in his honor, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at First Immanuel Lutheran Church (W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd.), Cedarburg, at 12:00 PM. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service, on Saturday, at the church, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

As we mourn the loss of our dear Jerry, we also lift our hearts in celebration of the life he led-a life of kindness, generosity, and passion. While he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
