Harold J. "Harry" Schrap

Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harold “Harry” Schrap, a beloved husband, dad, grandfather, great grandpa, and friend, who left this world peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on November 20, 1940, and baptized in Christ on December 22, 1940, Harry’s life was a testament to love, faith, resilience, and dedication to family. He was a doting grandfather and great grandpa, cherishing each moment spent with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

Harry grew up in Juneau, Wisconsin, and graduated from Juneau High School in 1958. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from November of 1958 until he was honorably discharged in May of 1962. On October 13, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol, at St. John Lutheran Church, in Juneau. Together they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories and a strong commitment to each other. As a dedicated husband and best friend to Carol, Harry’s love was a guiding light for their family.

His professional journey culminated in 1999, when he retired as a Vice President of M& I Bank, a role in which he excelled and made lasting connections throughout the bank and community for 37 years. A gifted orator, Harry inspired many with his words and his unwavering support for those around him.

In 1999, Harry faced a significant health challenge, battling cardiomyopathy. Through it all, he demonstrated exceptional strength and gratitude for the gift of a new heart in 2009, which allowed him to continue his journey with grace and appreciation.

An avid sports fan, Harry passionately supported the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. He loved golfing and sharing countless joyous moments of comradery with family and friends. Harry and Carol enjoyed attending Packer games over the years, spending time in Door County, and after retiring going to the Southwest during winter months.

Harry was a longtime member of Christ Alone Ev. Lutheran Church, serving as an usher, greeter, on the Board of Education, Bible Studies, and growing in his faith with his beloved church family. A God-given gift of encouragement.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, 1:00 PM at Christ Alone Ev. Lutheran Church (247 S. Main St.), Thiensville. A visitation will take place prior to the service, at the church, from 11:00 AM until the time of service, where there will be time to reflect on Harry’s life and share in the love he radiated. Following the memorial service, military honors will be performed by the United States Navy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Christ Alone Ev. Lutheran Church (Building Up and Branching Out Program), Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, or to Aurora St. Luke’s Transplant Program.

Harry is survived by his wife, Carol, children, Brian Schrap and Pam (Justin) Strong, grandchildren: Jacob, Sam (fiancée Tessa), and Rebecca Schrap, Brianna Roesler, Kaiden and Aubrey Strong; great-grandson, Jax. He is further survived by brother, Tom (Bev) Schrap, brother-in-law, Gary (Chom) Wendegatz, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Norma Schrap, in-law, Elmer and Irene Wendegatz, and his grandson, Ben Schrap.
