Jane Dawn (Klebenow) Oswald, 98, was peacefully received into the arms of Jesus on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Morning Star Village, in Rockford, Illinois, surrounded by her loving children. Jane was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, pastor’s wife, and friend. She touched many lives through her faith, family, and service to others.

Jane was born December 4, 1927 in Merrill, Wisconsin to Leona and Leslie Klebenow and baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. She grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she attended Bethany Lutheran Church and School, and Lutheran High School. Jane and Rev. Arthur Oswald were married August 3, 1947 at St. Martini Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and were blessed with 76 wonderful years together. Jane and Art served congregations in LaValle, Granton, and Chili, Wisconsin; Webster City, Iowa; and Rochelle, Illinois. They made Grafton and Sheboygan, WI their home in their retirement years where they spent many precious times with family and friends.

Jane was an avid reader, enjoyed antiquing with friends, and providing a loving, fun, beautiful home for her family. She had a gift of hospitality and a heart for service to others. Jane delivered Meals on Wheels for decades in both Iowa and Wisconsin. She served her church making books for Lutheran Braille Workers, teaching children, leading women’s groups and being a faithful right hand to her husband.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Arthur Oswald, parents Leslie and Leona Klebenow and brother, Donald Klebenow.

Jane is survived by son Mark (Rita) of Sheboygan, WI, daughters Sandra Nun of Austin, TX, Deborah (Rick) Wagner of Roscoe, IL, Susan (Greg) Finke of St. Paul, MN and Mary (Jeff) Dorth of Hilton Head Island, SC. Jane and Art’s legacy include 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Wallace Oswald and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton, WI on Monday February 23. Visitation is at 11:00 am and service at noon with burial and luncheon following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Meals on Wheels organization of Sheboygan, Lutheran Braille Workers, Heartland Hospice of Rockford, IL or a charity of your choice.
