Kathleen Denise (nee Hunt) Gendason

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kathleen Denise Gendason, who left this world on August 2, 2026, at the age of 68. Kathy was born on March 6, 1958, in Ames, Iowa, and her journey led her through a life filled with resilience, love, and compassion. 

Kathy attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she began to forge her path into the world. Her professional journey as a recruiter in New Jersey showcased her exceptional talent for connecting people with opportunities. Approximately 35 years ago, Kathleen made the beautiful decision to relocate to Tampa, Florida, a place that allowed her to flourish both personally and professionally. 

In Tampa, Kathy created a thriving eBay business, a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and determination. She operated it with pride and joy, relishing the independence it brought her. Though life presented its challenges, Kathy faced them with unwavering strength and a fierce determination to rise again. Her journey was a testament to her tenacity and resilience. 

Above all else, Kathy’s greatest joy and light came from her daughter, Taylor. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and Kathy often spoke of how her life was enriched by her precious daughter and her three adored grandchildren, whom she cherished wholeheartedly. 

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Taylor (Sean) Hosey, grandchildren, Parker, Hunter, and Drew Hosey, mother, Barbara Hunt, and soulmate, Steve Gendason, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love. She is further survived by her three siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

As we remember Kathy, let us take comfort in the love she shared and the light she brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever remain with us, guiding us with the love she always gave so freely.

Per Kathy’s wishes, a Christian committal service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, 11:00 AM at Immanuel Cemetery, in Cedarburg, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved father, Cecil Hunt.
