Landon M. Claeys

Listen to Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the unanticipated passing of Landon Claeys, who was born into eternal life on June 25, 2026. Landon was born in Grafton, Wisconsin on August 4, 2013 unexpectedly early at 32 weeks. He was a treasured son to Megan and Michael Claeys and big brother to Robbie. He leaves behind a legacy that has touched the lives of everyone he has encountered.

Although Landon was only 12 years old, his 12 years were filled with love, joy and laughter. Landon’s smile would light up any room he was in. Having cerebral palsy did not slow down his ability to charm everyone he met. Landon touched the lives of his family, classmates, occupational, physical and speech therapists, and countless doctors and nurses.

Landon’s sense of humor was unmatched. Landon enjoyed watching people, movies and TV shows. When Landon laughed, his whole body showed it and everyone around him was able to enjoy what he found funny. Physical comedy was his favorite, which is why he loved WWE, America’s Funniest Home Videos, countless cartoons and watching people in real life.

One of Landon’s biggest interests was baking. For a child who was tube-fed his whole life, he loved to help bake things for others. He loved cracking eggs (and making a mess), using a stand mixer, stirring things with his hand and scooping things onto baking sheets.

Landon was physically limited by cerebral palsy but that did not stop him from enjoying his life. He worked harder than anyone can imagine to do the things being asked of him. His efforts are never going to be forgotten and we truly believe that he is not physically limited anymore and is able to do all the things his body wouldn’t allow while he was here with us.

Landon is survived by his parents, Meg (Bergmann) and Mike Claeys, brother Robbie, grandparents Blaine and Kathy Bergmann and Mike Claeys Sr., aunts and uncles Mike and Betsy Bergmann, Joe and Allison Bergmann, Jake and Marcia Bergmann, Tiffany Claeys, Jacob Claeys, Jennifer (Claeys) and Bryan Masephol, and Angie Claeys, cousins Riley, Alex, Jacoby, Jaxson, Rory and Sam Bergmann, TJ Claeys and Alyssa Masephol. Further survived by countless other extended family members and close friends. Landon was preceded in death by his grandma Rhonda Claeys, great grandma Elaine Bergmann, great grandpa Robert Slobig and several other extended family members.

Although Landon’s life was tragically cut short, his memory will remain in all the lives he touched. His legacy will be one of perseverance, great effort, unmatched spirit and radiating joy. We would like to thank the teams of doctors who helped us navigate the complex medical life of Landon at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, especially the “B” team in the PICU and all the attendings. Without the support of these amazing professionals, we would not have been able to care for Landon as well as we did.

A celebration of life and legacy will be held at Pilgrim UCC (1621 2nd Ave, Grafton, WI) on July 10th, visitation from 3-6pm with a service to follow at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider monetary or item donations to the Ronald McDonald house or donations to Mel’s Charities.

Landon Claeys may have left his earthly body, but his spirit lives on and his memory will remain in our hearts forever.
