Lloyd H. Prost

Listen to Obituary

Trusting in his Savior, Lloyd Herbert Prost, departed this life with his daughter by his side, on November 4, 2025, soon after celebrating his 90th birthday. He was born on September 7, 1935, at home on the family farm, in Kewaskum, to the late Clarence and the late Louise (nee Abel) Prost. Lloyd was baptized on October 20, 1935, at Peace Lutheran Church, In Kewaskum, and was confirmed in his Christian faith on February 23, 1969. Lloyd was a graduate of Kewaskum High School in 1953, and shortly after graduation, Lloyd went on to serve in the United States National Guard. Upon his honorable discharge from the National Guard, he worked for his father on the family farm until he left to work at the Gehl Company for over 30 years.

Although Lloyd lived in town, he preferred the outdoors and was a farm boy at heart. He didn’t shy away from outside work; he enjoyed helping other farmers, maintaining his own property, spending time at his beloved cottage at Fox Lake, gardening, and blessing others with his willingness to offer his hands-on skills. Fox Lake was a favorite retreat where he could captain his own pontoon boat crewed by his grandsons, Will and Jack. When indoors, Lloyd enjoyed bowling, dancing to a good polka band, or playing cards.

Lloyd was a very active man who enjoyed riding his bicycle, running, and later in life, he joined a senior men’s softball league. Lloyd was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in West Bend, serving both as an usher and sexton, and he was also a member of the church dart ball team. Throughout the many years that St. John’s Lutheran Church sponsored a live outdoor nativity, Lloyd took on the role of a Wise Man, a shorter journey, though probably a bit colder than the real Wise Men experienced 2,000 years ago. He didn’t have camel problems, but one year he was observed chasing a runaway llama up Decorah hill.

Lloyd was married to Diane Steinbach and together they were blessed with a son, Terry Albinger. Years later, he was united in marriage to his second wife, Carol Ann Gerth on June 1, 1968, and they were blessed with a daughter, Linda Ann Prost. Lloyd and Carol were the proud grandparents to their two grandsons, William Jacob Poellot and Jack Lloyd Poellot.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his late wife Carol, who passed away in 2014, his son, Terry Albinger who passed away in 2005, and his brother, Myron Prost, brothers-in-law, Ron Stange, David Gerth, and David Strassman, niece, Laura Stange, and nephew, Adam Gerth.

Lloyd is survived by his beloved daughter, Linda Prost (Poellot), grandsons, Will and Jack Poellot, sister, Bernice Stange, sisters-in-law, Ellen Prost, Nancy (Steven) Feucht, Bev Gerth, and Grace Strassman, many other nieces and nephews, as well as his special friend and dancing partner, Darleen Baerenwald.
