Lori C. Zank, of Cedarburg, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, in the love of her cherished husband and daughters.
Lori lived life big! With her quick-witted humor, confidence, and genuine smile, she mad friends in every phase of her life. She loved music, singing in the Ozaukee Chorus and the St. Joseph Catholic Church chorus, in Grafton. She lived an active life as a runner in her early years, then enjoyed long walks, pool walking at the YMCA, snowshoeing, and, just recently kayaking. An avid animal lover, Lori cared deeply for her cats and dogs, including her cherished Rottweilers.
Lori graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1962. She built a long and distinguished career with Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley), beginning with the TPC/Allen-Bradley subsidiary, in Cedarburg and retiring from Rockwell Automation, in Mequon. She was well-liked and highly respected by her colleagues.
Lori found joy in the simple pleasures in life – enjoying coffee with friends, engaging in spirited conversations, and sharing laughter with close neighbors. She loved knitting, gardening, and tending to her yard and rose bushes. She was always available to listen and support others; her warm, welcoming smile often encouraged strangers to open up and share their personal challenges. She served as a Stephen Minister through Grace Lutheran Church, in Grafton, and supported those in crisis by volunteering with COPE hotline in Ozaukee County.
On July 13,1985, she married Donald S. Zank, the love of her life. Door County was their special place, visited several times a year, where they discovered new treasures while returning to their favorite spots and taking in all the scenic beauty. Their shared love of The Mavericks took them to concert venues in Nashville, Fond du Lac, and Seattle.
Lori was born in Milwaukee on December 31, 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Marjorie (nee Christmas) Merlock, and her sisters, Karen Joyce (Don) Chandler and Marlene (Harvey, preceded) Seeger. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald S. Zank, her daughters, Melissa (Sean) Cooley and Andrea Mueller (partner John); her grandson, Declan Cooley; and her brothers, Randal Merlock and Kenneth Merlock.
Lori demonstrated unwavering love for family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, both old and new, her beloved cockapoo Lulu, and Chubby the cat. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to all who offered their support.
The family is planning a private memorial service. You can honor Lori’s life by embracing the love and joy she brough to the world, ensuring her light continues to shine brightly in ours.
