Lucille Prucca, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side after a lengthy battle with cancer on March 7, 2026, in her cherished home in Grafton, Wisconsin. Born on March 8, 1940, in Cudahy, Wisconsin, Lucille was the daughter of the late Joseph Rehak and the late Josephine (nee Eichstaedt).
Lucille's journey through life was marked by resilience and an unwavering determination. She was united in marriage to her late husband Robert on January 18, 1963, and together they welcomed five children into their lives, though sorrowfully she mourned the passing of her sons, Allan and James. Lucille was known for her remarkable strength-a true fighter who bravely battled cancer since the age of 39 and overcame the challenges of polio.
A homemaker at heart, Lucille poured her love into all she did. She was not only a talented baker, known for her delicious homemade pizzas and pasties, but she also had a creative flair that shone through in her gardening and crafty repurposing projects. She could turn twigs and found materials into beautiful pieces of furniture, showcasing her inventive spirit.
Always the nurturer, she embraced every opportunity to feed others and touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. Lucille's life was defined by her compassion for others. She always found time to lend an ear and offer sage advice, leaving a positive imprint on the hearts of those around her. Her strength was matched only by her ability to keep the peace while guiding others in the right direction. Tough as nails, she approached life with a strong will to live, never letting her illnesses define her but instead serving as a testament to her resolve.
Lucille leaves behind her children, Robb Hedrick, Darlene (Jay) Schmitz, and Larry (Sandy) Prucca, grandchildren, Josh (Amanda) Hedrick, Alex Hedrick, Ben (Leah) Hedrick, Jessica (Jake) Markelz, Justin Schmitz, Jamie (Kevin) Runkel, and Austin Hayburn, and great-grandchildren, Jase Hedrick, Jordy Hedrick, Madelynn Markelz, and Levi Markelz. Further survived by sister-in-law, Catherine Shepard, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Prucca, sons, Allan and James Hedrick, daughter-in-law, Tracey Leffin-Hedrick, as well as three sisters, and five brothers.
In honor of Lucille's remarkable life, her family will lay her to rest at Zur Ruhe Cemetery, in Cedarburg with a private family committal service.
Lucille’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Aurora Home Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
As we reflect on the joyful moments and the love she shared, we remember Lucille Prucca as a beacon of light and generosity. She will be deeply missed but forever celebrated in the hearts of those who knew her.
