Marlene Faye Seeger - June 2, 1937- December 21, 2025
Marlene Faye Seeger (Merlock) took her last breath at 9:53AM on Sunday, December 21, 2025 embraced in the loving arms of her son, Timothy Lee Seeger, daughter, Eileen Seeger-Garcia and granddaughter, Monique Kritselis. Marlene wanted all to know that upon her death, she was reunited with her beloved husband, Harvey Herman William Seeger, Jr. and she was at peace.
In her 88 years, Marlene led an impactful life. Born on June 2, 1937 in Helena, Montana to Roy and Marjorie Merlock, she had three brothers: Donny, Kenny, Randy and two sisters: Karen and Loraine (Don Zank). She lived in Montana for a short time before moving to Northern Wisconsin and eventually to Milwaukee where Marlene had fond memories of living in the city. As a teenager, her family moved to Grafton and she graduated from Cedarburg High School. Marlene enjoyed singing and acting in local theater productions. In 1960, she was crowned Movie Queen of Cedarburg, Saluting Marcus Theater’s 25th Anniversary. She worked for Armbruster’s Jewelers until she met and married Harvey in August 1961.
Marlene and Harvey enjoyed married life for a few years, especially a good beer and shenanigans with Dave and Sandy Seeger. In 1967, Marlene and Harvey welcomed their son, Tim and in 1971 daughter, Eileen and dove deep into parenthood in Grafton entertaining family at birthdays and Christmas. In the mid 1970’s-early 1990’s Marlene opened her home and heart to single mothers who needed reliable child care charging as little as $1 a day. She took time listen to parents struggles, gave reassurance and a warm hug. Many regarded Marlene as extended family.
In retirement, Marlene and Harvey built their dream home in the whispering pines of Adams Friendship where she loved to spend time and make memories with her beautiful Granddaughter, Monique.
Marlene began a 16-year chapter of thriving at Lasata Care Center where she enjoyed happy hour with her friends, weekends with her family and countless outings including roller derby, belly dancing, theater, swanky parties, and Church. She gained a social media presence as “Sangria Marlene.” In December 2016, Marlene welcomed her great grandson, Tiberius into the world. In August 2017, Marlene welcomed her Son-in-Law, Shad Garcia and his sons Austin and Landon to her family.
Marlene will be remembered for her sharp wit, belly laughs, resilience, determination and her ability to listen with compassion. She loved dogs, enjoyed reading, needle point and crocheting scarves. In the last years of her life, she survived the isolation of Covid-19 and became inseparable with her “Sugar Bear.” She enjoyed long walks, car rides, wearing beautiful dresses and getting her nails polished. She was known locally, adored by many, and is greatly missed.
Marlene wished to have a celebration of her life when the lilacs bloomed. Her family will be holding a private ceremony on May 30, 2026. A lilac will be donated to Lasata in her memory.
The family would like to thank the volunteers and staff at Lasata Care Center who became Marlene’s family. We are grateful for the CNAs (Sharlotte, Erica, Pat, Sharon, Rachel, Stacy), nurses Kelly, Veronica, Jane, Melody, Emma, Paula and her PT, Allen who not only took are of her day-to-day needs, but saw her as the amazing lady she was. Care givers are the unsung heroes that Marlene would want us all to cherish.
