Sandra S, Nelson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra S. Nelson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, who left this world peacefully on September 20, 2026. Born on April 18, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sandra dedicated her life to her family, her community, and her faith. She is survived by her devoted husband, Albert Nelson, whom she married on August 13, 1963.

Sandra was a woman of remarkable grace and unwavering strength. While she was a world traveler alongside Albert, it was her roots that kept her grounded. Family meant everything to Sandra; she was the cornerstone as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Alcorn, and her grandchildren, Joy Sandra Alcorn and Paul Howard Alcorn, whom she supported in their educational pursuits, taking pride in their accomplishments and creating cherished memories on numerous vacations. She is further survived by her sister, Marian Merson, brothers-in-law, Norman (Barb) Nelson and Harold Johnson, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 Preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ida Lemp, brother, Paul (Ruth) Lemp, and sister, Carol Johnson.

 A longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton, Sandra selflessly volunteered her time at the Lasata Care Center and local schools. She also taught Sunday School, serving others with the same compassion that defined her character. Her role as a Stephen minister, at Grace Lutheran Church, touched many lives, providing care and support while embodying the spirit of her faith. As the point of contact for her family, she was the heart that kept everyone connected, always knowledgeable and dependable in managing their affairs.

 In her leisure time, Sandra found joy in reading, gardening, pets, taking photographs and travel, passions she shared with Albert. She took in several stray cats and older rescue dogs. She and her neighbors formed a walking and birthday breakfast group. She supported her father's business with administrative duties and supported her mother after his passing. 

Sandra’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church (715 6th Ave.), Grafton. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, at the church, from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Sandra will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park, in New Berlin.
